Holland America Line, which launched in 1873, is one of the oldest cruise lines. Originally known for its extensive Alaskan cruise and cruise tour offerings, Holland America Line offers cruises to 320 different ports of call throughout the world, in more than 100 countries. Their ships, characterized by attentive dining room service and understated elegance, have now gone through even more unique enhancements and programs, a nice feature for groups.
In 2003, Holland America Line launched their first “Signature of Excellence” initiative, which included new enhancements and features including flat screen TVs and the Mariner Dream Bed in the staterooms. Additional parts of this enhancement program also launched the Pinnacle Grille, the Exploration Cafe powered by The New York Times, and the Culinary Arts Center presented by Food & Wine Magazine. This “state of the art” onboard show kitchen provides guests with the opportunity to see cooking demonstrations and participate in cooking classes, led by culinary experts as well as celebrated guest chefs.

Holland America Line has continued with more “Signature of Excellence” enhancements including lanai staterooms and more enrichment and entertainment options. Holland America Line’s Digital Workshops, for instance, are powered by Microsoft Windows. The exclusive “Greenhouse Spa & Salon” is also onboard.
Holland America Line also has their “As You Wish” dining, which allows guests to choose either a traditional seating/dining or more flexible dining. In addition to the main dining rooms, there is alternative dining in the Pinnacle Grille, which is Pacific Northwest-themed dining. Other dining includes casual fare in the Canaletto which serves Italian cuisine, their all-day pizzeria, Slice, and complimentary 24 hour room service. Holland America Line’s newest “Signature class” ships also feature Tamarind, which serves pan-Asian cuisine.
Holland America Line’s fleet includes 15 ships and they cover the world as far as their destinations – Alaska, Caribbean, Bermuda,Panama Canal, Trans-Atlantic, Europe, Mexico, South America/Antarctica, Canada/New England, Asia and Pacific.
