Grand Circle Cruise Line, the leader in small ship and river cruises worldwide, today announced that the cruise line will operate three Mediterranean small ship cruise tours beginning in September 2012. The 50 passenger, 4-plus star ocean vessels offer passengers unique itineraries and exceptional value, including per diems beginning as low as $136 per day, free single supplements on both the cruise tours and all pre-and-post trip extensions, and a best price guarantee.

“The addition of three deep-sea vessels to our fleet brings a new dimension to our 12 award-winning, privately-owned European and Russian river ships and exclusive charters,” said Lewis. “These vessels are the perfect size to explore the islands and shores of the Mediterranean and then slip into the smaller ports and harbors for the night, away from the larger cruise ships. We believe that these three small ship cruise tours will greatly appeal to our passengers, especially to our women passengers who consistently tell us they want opportunities that connect them to local people and their ways of life.”

Grand Circle Cruise Line’s small ship cruise tours operate aboard the fleet’s privately-owned 50 passenger vessels: the M/V Arethusa, the M/V Artemis, and the M/V Athena. Passengers travel in two groups of 25 or fewer, and each group has a dedicated local, expert Program Director. Built in a style that evokes the elegant, golden era of cruising, each ship is complemented by modern amenities and a casual, welcoming atmosphere. There are 26 cabins, three teak decks, including a sun deck, reception area and lounge in every ship.

Costa Cruises Lets You Replace A Crew Member for a Day

Cruise lines’ past passenger programs have come a long way from that traditional “welcome back” reception. They’ve created different levels of membership, new ways to achieve those membership levels and are always continuing to add more “perks” and amenities.   But one of the most innovative “perks” is one that Costa Cruises has available their past guests, CostaClub members.  Called “ViceVersa,” it literally lets CostaClub members switch roles with a crew member for a day.

Costa Cruises’ “ViceVersa”

Yes, CostaClub members can actually take the place of a crew or staff member for a day, and serve cruise guests in a variety of different roles. This unique experience first debuted in November, 2010 aboard the Costa Deliziosa and was so popular, it’s offered on four different Costa Cruises in 2011.

How Does “Vice Versa” Role Reversal Work?

CostaClub members are trained by the cruise director who also supervises them in their new role for a day. After going through training, they then take on one of many different positions – singers or musicians, tour escorts, cruise staff, guest services, or waiters and cooks. In the training, CostaClub members learn all the “behind the scenes” secrets of that particular role. And for that day, they wear real uniforms (with a special logo) and step into that crew member’s role. As far as the crew members being replaced for that day? They become the ship’s guests.

What Ships Offer “ViceVersa” in 2011

ViceVersa available on Costa Deliziosa

Earlier this year, the Costa Luminosa was the first to offer “ViceVersa” onboard its January 10, 2011 sailing from Dubai. Later in 2011, three more Costa Cruises’ ships will offer the “ViceVersa” experience.  The Inaugural Cruise of Costa’s newest flagship, Costa Favolosa, departing from Venice July 7, as well as Costa Deliziosa’s July 30 sailing from Amsterdam to Norwegian fjords, Favore Islands, and Greenland, Iceland will have this unique role reversal experience available. And the fourth cruise will be the Costa Deliziosa’s 100 day cruise departing from Savona December 28, 2011.

You CAN Replace a Staff Member and Gain a New Experience

Yes, who says you can’t replace a crew member for a day? This unique experiential opportunity really provides CostaClub members with a real, behind the scenes look as well as a new twist to an already unforgettable vacation.
